I learned how to solder in kindergarten, assembling my first radio receiver. I start to earning by repairing tape recorders for my primary schoolmates. Naturally, I went to Technical University to become an electronics engineer. In the first year, I’ve made few commercial projects such as professional real to real tape recorders for a recording studio and digital volume controller.
Perestroika interrupted studies. Russia's economy collapsed making the perspective for work bleak. I went abroad to try my luck. In the early 90's I found a niche in electronic components import from Poland and kept doing that for few years.
History of Manly Electronics
I arrived in Australia in 1997 with a degree in electrical engineering. In 1998-2000 I lived in Manly and worked for Contract Electronics which operated for over 25 years on Pittwater Rd. They specialized in television repairs. However, when the owner retired, they delegated the job of handling the remaining warranties to me for a year. I continued to operate a TV repair business independently. I registered Manly Electronics trade name in 2004.
TV repairs gradually become unpractical after the warranty expires. I moved to computers. I studied microprocessors at the university back in the late '80s. I have seen the PC revolution in practice. So, it is easy for me to understand working on computer hardware and software. But it was not until the mid-2000’s that I started repairing computers commercially in the Sydney Northern Beaches area. I now specialize in computer systems for domestic clients and small businesses. Today, I have a customer base of a few thousand. I am happy to work for people from all backgrounds ranging from unemployed to fortune 500 CEOs. Occasionally I still entertaining myself with TV antenna repair jobs.
